Classtime is designed to be best explored and understood with a hands-on approach.

There are two ways to learn how to get started with our platform. Either you can read through the step-by-step instructions in this post or (additionally) rewatch our Getting Started video:

My Questions is where you can create, import, edit, and manage all of your questions into question sets. When you visit My Questions for the first time, you will find a few example question sets that we have prepared You do not need to be registered - go take a look: www.classtime.com/questions/

Before we go into the creation of your own questions and question sets, we suggest experiencing what a real session might look like!

Simply click on 'Start New Session' within the selected question set on the top right corner of your screen.

2. Simulate a real Session

Once you click on 'Start New Session', a new live session will be activated and you will be automatically forwarded to the session dashboard.

On the session dashboard, you can find the session code, manage your questions and see your students' answers.

Every session automatically generates a unique session code that can be shared with your students to join during class. This can be done in three ways: either copy and share the URL, ask your students to go to classtime.com and enter their code in the prominently visible 'Students' field, or through your class invitation (premium users only).

All questions can be individually shown and hidden from the students' devices, giving you great flexibility to tailor and time them based on your teaching. This is quickly done by clicking on one of the toggles on the top.

This is where you will be able to see all of your students' answers appear in real-time, giving you the ability to quickly assess the learning progress and engagement of your class. Within a few seconds, you'll be able to better understand how to adapt Classtime to your teaching and maximize the overall learning progress.

The easiest way to see how this works is by clicking on 'Start Preview' at the bottom of the page:

Once the simulation starts, you’ll get a better feeling of what a real class might look like. Clicking on any student’s answer cell will show you more information about their answer.

Now that you've seen Classtime from the perspective of a teacher, you can quickly explore the perspective of a student! Once you've activated a simulation, a button to its right will appear. Clicking it will open a new window where you will be able to use the same session as a student!

Pro Tip: grab a second device (such as your smartphone) and log in with the session code as a student!

Simply add a name and see how it works. Experiment with showing and hiding single questions for greater flexibility and try to answer the questions as a student. You'll see that the students in the simulation have been replaced by you with your real answers!

Once you've finished answering your questions, click on the button "Show solutions to students". Doing so will validate the answers and show the correct results on your students’ devices!

If you want, you can now finish the Session by confirming 'End Session' at the top of the teacher's session dashboard.

Now that you’ve completed steps 1-3, you’re ready to head back to My Questions and create your first question set!

Simply click on 'Create Question Set' on the right sub-menu and enter a name. Inside your new question set, you can now create new questions (by clicking on '+ New Question'). If you want to see how it looks in a real session, simply select 'Start New Session' inside your question set and simulate the responses. It's that easy!
