Classtime aims to create the best platform for learning and feedback, and we’re excited to introduce the Comment Function to accelerate the learning process!

You can choose to give feedback on individual answers, overall session performance, or both. If your session doesn’t require qualitative feedback, you don’t need to use this functionality, nothing will change in what students see. You’re always in full control of whether comments are visible to students.

Leaving a Comment on an Individual Answer or the Overall Session

To comment on an individual answer, click on the corresponding answer cell, as shown in the screenshot below:

You can then add your comment by clicking in the “Add your comment here” field:

Take advantage of rich formatting, including the ability to:

  • Undo edits

  • Adjust font size

  • Format text (bold, italic, underline, strikethrough)

  • Create numbered lists

When you’re done, click “Save”. If you don’t save, the comment will remain in Drafts. You’ll still be able to edit or delete it, but it won’t be visible to the student until it’s saved.

Once saved, you can:

  • Edit or delete the comment

  • Save it as a Template to reuse with other answers

  • Add a title to the template for easy identification:

To use a template, click “Templates” below the comment field. You can still edit a template before saving it, or delete it if it’s no longer needed.

Saved comments are indicated by a small comment icon in the top right corner of the individual answer cell, as shown below:

To leave a comment on the overall session, click the comment icon at the end of the student’s answer row:

Here, you can also use existing templates or write a new comment from scratch:

Comment Visibility to Students

You have complete control over whether comments are visible to students. Use the Student View Control Menu in your Session settings to toggle comment visibility on or off at any time:

To see how your choices affect what students see, refer to the Student View Controls article.

Additionally, you can change comment visibility when you choose to End Session in the corresponding menu.
